Das Razer Kraken 7.1 Headset im Shooter-sZene Härtetest
Erst auf der diesjährigen Gamescom präsentierte Razer die 7.1-Version des beliebten Razer Kraken Pro-Headsets. Kurze Zeit später halten wir nun eines der neusten Exemplare in der Hand und haben es auf Herz und Nieren für euch getestet.
Verarbeitung und Verpackung
Das Headset kommt in einem schlichten schwarzen Karton, der, nachdem man das Cover anhebt, den ersten Blick auf das Wunderwerk frei gibt. Eine dünne Schicht Plastik trennt uns noch von dem Headset. Kurz zwei Befestigungen lösen und schon kann es losgehen. Neben dem Headset an sich, gehören nur zwei Razeraufkleber sowie ein Schreiben der beiden Gründer dazu. Was sofort auffällt: Kein ansteckbares Mikrofon befindet sich im Lieferumfang. Nach einer kurzen Suche findet sich das Mikrofon versteckt, zum Ausziehen in der linken Ohrmuschel. Das Headset besteht fast nur aus Plastik. Doch dies ist bei dem hochwertigen Stück Hardware kein Manko, denn trotz des Werkstoffes fühlt sich das Headset sehr stabil an und bietet auch einen hohen Tragekomfort. Aus der linken Ohrmuschel kommt neben dem Mikrofon auch das USB-Kabel, welches, zumindest mir, relativ schwer erscheint und sich bei längerem tragen auf der Schulter spürbar macht. Ebenfalls fehlt eine Fernbedienung am Kabel, wie man es heutzutage von vielen Headsets bereits in der mittleren Preisklasse vorfindet.
Wie oben bereits erwähnt besitzt das Headset einen hohen Tragekomfort. Die beiden Muschel sind Over-the-Ear und umschließen somit das gesamte Ohr und drücken auch nach längeren Gamingsessions oder einer durchzechten LAN-Party-Nacht nicht unangenehm auf dem Kopf. Durch die verstellbaren Bügel sowie die drehbaren Hörmuscheln passt das Headset sich fast jeder Kopfform an. Das Headset schließt sehr gut und Umweltgeräusche können so leichter ausgeblendet werden beim zocken. So kann man dank der 7.1 Technik sich besser auf sein Spiel konzentrieren und hört bei Spielen wie Black Ops 2 oder Battlefield 3 detailliert aus welcher Richtung nun ein Geräusch kam. Punktabzug gibt es für die Kunststoffpolster des Headsets, welche den Ohren nicht genug frische Luft durchlassen und es so sein kann, dass ihr schnell ins Schwitzen kommt.
Der Klang
In Verbindung mit der von Razer bereit gestellten Software „Synapse 2.0“ entfesselt das Headset seine komplette Kraft. Stimmen klingen Klar, Bässe schön tief und ein Verzerren des Tons kann auch bei voller Lautstärke nicht festgestellt werden. Dafür sorgen mehrere 40mm Neodymium-Magnete die einen Frequenzbereich von 20 bis 20.000 Hz abdecken. Durch die gute Abdichtung des Headsets, dringt auch kaum ein Ton nach außen, was es auch für die Leute um euch herum angenehm macht, neben euch zu sitzen, wenn ihr Beispiels in der Bahn mit dem Laptop-Musik hört. Hier reden wir für Absicht von „Laptop“ da durch den USB-Anschluss es nicht möglich ist, das Headset ohne Adapter an ein Smartphone oder gar einen normalen MP3-Player zu nutzen. Dies ist jedoch kein Minuspunkt, da es sich bei dem Kraken 7.1 ja um ein Gamingheadset handelt und nicht um herkömmliche Kopfhörer. Aber nicht nur der wiedergegebene Sound ist klar und unverzerrt. Auch das Mikrofon leistet solide Leistung und überzeugt in Skype sowie Teamspeak. Während mein altes Headset ein leichtes „zirpen“ von sich gab bei der Spracheingabe, sind meine Gegenüber sofort Positiv überrascht von den Tönen die ich von mir gebe.
Synapse 2.0
Synapse 2.0 ist das Kontrollzentrum des Headsets. Dort könnt ihr alle möglichen Einstellungen des Kraken vornehmen um es an eure Vorlieben anzupassen. So gibt es Feintuning für die Sprachqualität oder den Bass. Per Schieber kann man bis zu 200 verschiedene Stufen der Optionen einstellen. Das Selbe gilt nicht nur für die Lautsprecher sondern auch für das Mikrofon. Auch hier kann man diverse Feintuningeinstellungen vornehmen und so die Sprachqualität an die eigenen Präferenzen anpassen. Im Hauseigenen Mixer macht Razer dem Windows Soundmixer dann Konkurrenz. Dort kann man, neben der Lautstärke der einzelnen Programme, auch Auswählen, ob man das Programm über die 7.1 Technologie hören will oder lieber ein 2.0 Stereomix bevorzugt. Dies kann hilfreich sein, wenn man Musik beim zocken hören will und die hinteren und vorderen Lautsprecher lieber für das Game reservieren will. Der eingebaute Equalizer liefert eine Voreinstellungen doch überlässt dem Nutzer auch die alleinige Kontrolle über die Regler von 125 bis 16.000 Hertz. Im letzten und wichtigsten Reiter von Synapse kann man dann noch die Beleuchtung des Headsets ein- beziehungsweise ausschalten. Um die Software jedoch zu nutzen müsst ihr euch erst Online registrieren und beim Programmstart dann anmelden. Der Sinn dieser Anmeldung konnte ich noch nicht herausfinden und die einzig plausible Erklärung hierfür wäre, dass man so sein Soundprofil in der Cloud speichern könnte und es von überall aus aufrufbar machbar machen könnte. Was außerdem auffällt sind die kleineren Rechtschreibfehler in der Software.
Verfügbarkeit und der Preis
Das Kraken 7.1 gibt es seit dem 21.09. bei uns im Handel für derzeit rund 100€. Im ersten Moment klingt dies viel Geld für ein Gamingheadset doch wenn man mal die reinen Specs mit dem Preis vergleicht, stellt man schnell fest, dass man für die 100€ ein Headset mit sehr gutem Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis erhält. Fazit
Headsets gibt es zahlreiche da draußen: Schlechte Unhandliche aber auch gute Klangwunder. Das Kraken 7.1 gehört ganz klar in die zweite Kategorie der Kopfhörer. Es überzeugte in jeglicher Hinsicht. Die Bässe sind saftig, die Höhen sind klar. Der Tragekomfort ist ein Genuss für den Kopf und auch die Verarbeitung hinterlässt kaum Wünsche an ein perfektes Headset. Lediglich die Kunststoffpolster, das USB-Kabel ohne Fernbedienung sowie der Accountzwang bei der Nutzung der Software enttäuschen ein wenig. Schaut man jedoch über diese Punkte hinweg hat mein ein sehr gutes Headset zur Hand, welches nicht nur gut sitzt sondern auch am PC wenig Platz weg nimmt und es noch zulässt die heimische Anlage an den PC anzuschließen. Zusammengefasst erhält das Headset, aufgrund des Preis-/Leistungsverhältnisses, eine Benotung von 9,2 Punkten von insgesamt 10 Punkten.
