Heute ist scheinbar Total War: Warhammer-Tag, denn heute wurde neben dem ersten größeren Update auch der erste zusätzliche Inhalt veröffentlicht.
Am heutigen 30. Juni 2016 erhielt Total War: Warhammer das erste größere Update und zusätzlich veröffentlichte man auch den ersten DLC – lässt man den erwerbbaren Vorbestellerinhalt weg – für das Spiel. Fangen wir beim Update an, denn es kommen neue Einheiten und Karten ins Spiel, es werden Balance-Anpassungen vorgenommen und DirectX 12 wird zunächst in einer Beta-Version unterstützt. Das Update nennt sich „Blood Knights“ und es sind Kavallerie-Einheiten, die diesem den Namen verleihen. Die Blood Knights werden mit dem Patch als neue Kavallerie-Einheit für die Vampirfürsten eingebaut (Tier 5 Shock Cavalry).
Die Multiplayer-Karten nennen sich „Alpine Ridge“, „Crossroads“, „Heorot Ridge“, „Peak Pass“ und „Blue Reach River“. Zudem wurden neben der Stabilität des Spiels und dem Verhalten der KI viele Anpassungen zum Balancing vorgenommen. Das betrifft vor allem die Helden, deren Zaubersprüche und andere Einheiten. Außerdem ist nun auch DirectX 12-Unterstützung als Beta-Version verfügbar. Der erste DLC ist deutlich schneller zusammengefasst, denn der Name verrät eigentlich schon vieles, „Blut für den Blutgott“. Es geht, ähnlich wie bei Total War: ROME II, um die rohe Gewalt, die hiermit Einzug ins Spiel halten soll. Abgetrennte Gliedmaßen, fliegen Oberkörper oder ein Hauch von einer Blutwolke. Das sind die Stichworte für diesen DLC. Von den Entwicklern gibt es die Beschreibung „nichts für schwache Nerven“. Auch das HUD kann in Mitleidenschaft gezogen und in Blut getränkt werden. Außerdem können verstümmelte Zombies, Skelette und Verfluchte weiterkämpfen. Auch soll es weitere zufällige Kampagnenereignisse geben, die in den Schlachten mehr Gemetzel verursachen sollen. Die zusätzlichen Effekte können in den Grafikeinstellungen aktiviert werden. Im deutschen Steam-Shop fallen 2,49 Euro für „Blut für den Blutgott“ an.
