Nachdem der erste Patch zu Far Cry Primal veröffentlicht worden war, erhielt das Spiel zudem noch einen weiteren Spielmodus, den Expert Mode.
Diese Änderung ist zwar nicht im offiziellen Changelog aufgeführt und wurde daher von Ubisoft selber näher erläutert. Dieser Modus richtet sich nämlich insbesondere an echte Überlebenskünstler. So wird die Gesundheit gegenüber dem Hardcore-Modus noch einmal um die Hälfte reduziert, das Anvisieren von Gegner erschwert sich zusätzlich noch mehr, Gegner schießen um 33% schneller, Feinde werden zudem auch nicht mehr auf der Minimap angezeigt, solange sie nicht markiert wurden. Was noch dazu kommt, ist, dass sich die Feinde über einen längeren Zeitraum hinweg euren Aufenthaltsort merken, die Zielunterstützung für diverse Waffen, wie z.B. Bogen, Club und Speer wurde reduziert und zuletzt auch noch der Schaden verringert.
Ubisoft möchte sicherstellen, dass der Launch des Spiels so gut wie nur möglich über die Bühne läuft. Daher auch die kleineren Tweaks und Änderungen im Patch, sodass die Zeit für den Spieler so angenehm wie nur möglich ist, um den Wenja-Stamm zu retten und beschützen. Der Expert Mode wurde deswegen eingeführt, um die bestmögliche Spielerfahrung zu bieten.
